Estonian language

Translation from and into Estonian

Documents for Estonia: residence, study, work and e-Residency.

How we work

Estonian belongs to the Finno-Ugric family, like Finnish and Hungarian, and has nothing in common with Latvian or Lithuanian despite the geography — a translator is chosen by language, not by region. The second point is practical: Estonia has moved almost all record-keeping into electronic form, and institutions often expect a digital document with appropriate certification. So we establish at the outset whether the file is submitted on paper or electronically.

Frequently asked questions

Does Estonia accept electronic documents?

Many procedures there are electronic, which is often faster than paper. Tell us where you are submitting and we will confirm whether the electronic form is sufficient.

Is an apostille needed?

For official Ukrainian documents, usually yes — Estonia is a party to the Hague Convention. The apostille goes on the original and the document is translated together with it.

Is Estonian similar to Latvian?

No. Estonian is Finno-Ugric, while Latvian and Lithuanian are Baltic languages. They share only geography, so one translation does not substitute for another.

How long does it take?

Estonian is rarer than English, so we plan with a margin and state the deadline before starting.
