The TRIS translation school

The agency has trained interpreters since the mid-1990s: simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, and professional development for those already working in the field.

Programme status

We are updating the programme and our teaching methods

We are revising both the content of the courses and the way we teach, so that they match how the profession works today: hybrid events, remote booths, AI tools and post-editing. We are doing this thoroughly, because teaching the old way where the profession has already changed makes little sense. Once the updated programme is ready, we will write to everyone who left their details. We send nothing else to that address.

Programmes

What the programme covers

01

Booth work and remote platforms

Simultaneous interpreting

The core of the profession: split attention, pacing, working in pairs, subject preparation and handling unexpected situations.

02

Negotiations, delegations, accompaniment

Consecutive interpreting

Note-taking, memory, working with a speaker, etiquette and the limits of the interpreter’s role at an event.

03

For working interpreters

Professional development

Sector terminology, conference preparation, self-review, terminology databases and interpreter tools.

Approach

How this differs from university courses

01

Taught by practitioners

Classes are led by interpreters who work at real events, not only describe them.

02

Material from live projects

We train on what interpreters actually meet: live speeches, difficult diction, uneven pace, specialised terminology.

03

Equipment

The agency owns simultaneous interpreting equipment, so classes run in real conditions rather than with headphones at a laptop.

04

Small groups

Simultaneous interpreting cannot be learned in a lecture hall: everyone needs enough practical sessions.

Schedule and cost

How the training works

Training runs in groups around specific dates: every student completes the practical sessions rather than simply sitting through a course. Schedule and cost are therefore set for each group and announced together with the updated programme.

01

Format

Small groups working on the agency’s own equipment, in the real conditions of an interpreter’s work.

02

Schedule

Groups form around specific dates so that everyone completes the practical part.

03

Cost

Set for each group and announced together with the updated programme.

04
